According to the prestigious North Carolina Golf Panel (NCGP), the second ranked golf course in North Carolina is located right here in Linville. The Grandfather Golf and Country Club with its par 72 course (7,085 yards) is only outranked by Pinehurst No. 2.

The NCGP is recognized as an authoritative statewide source of golf course rankings "in a state that boasts some of the nation's best course." according to the organization's website. Membership in the NCGP i s by invitation only.
